Volkswagen Beetle R concept revealed at Frankfurt
German car maker Volkswagen has just brought to fore its ever sportier car Beetle R concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Although Beetle R is not a new name and the car has done a lot of rounds since 1998, the sportier version of Beetle R was launched at the mega event yesterday.Still in its concept form, Volkswagen Beetle R hints that the company might add an extra model to its high-performance ‘R’.

The new Volkswagen Beetle R concept is featuring a complete new front and rear looks which gets new bumpers that are 30 mm wider than the conventional Volkswagen Beetle. Rear of Volkswagen Beetle R concept has an integrated rear diffuser and rear spoiler and contains two sets to dual-chrome exhaust pipes. According to Volkswagen’s terminology, new Volkswagen Beetle R is painted in ‘SERIOUS GREY’. The interior features black Nappa leather sports seats, brushed aluminium pedal caps, upgraded door sill plates and an instrument cluster that’s specifically designed for the R models. The tyres get wider with 20 inch alloy wheels. The alloys are even bigger than the R versions of theVolkswagenGolf and Volkswagen Scirocco.Volkswagen Beetle R concept showcases its motorsport design which comprise of inspired splitter. Among the three air intakes on the front, middle one passes the air to engine and surrounding two cool the brakes. Its aerodynamics is revealed by sir vents in the bonnet for extra ventilation.

On the performance front, it is speculated that the Volkswagen Beetle R concept would deliver a power similar to Volkswagen Golf R which delivers 226 bhp and Volkswagen Scirocco which delivers 261 bhp power. Till date the sportiest Volkswagen Beetle, globally is the 2.0 TSI, offering 197bhp. It will be interesting to watch if new concept Beetle R can overtake this hot car. Among its small cars, presently Volkswagen is offering Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Beetle in India.
