Volkswagen Beetle gets ABT Tuning
The standard Volkswagen Beetle TDi comes with a 2.0-litre 4 cylinder engine that is more than capable of pulling this chic vehicle around. This however is not quite enough for ABT Sportsline, who have decided to get under the Beetle’s bonnet and throw in a few add-ons onto the engine. The new Beetle that comes out after undergoing their scalpel shows off considerable performance and styling improvements.
The engine tweaks increase the power and torque output of the modified Beetle by a margin of 30bhp and 50Nm torque respectively. In addition to this the resultant power increase shortens the Beetle’s 0-100kmph timing as well. The stock version was capable of reaching the 100km mark in 9.4 seconds while the modified version will do it in just 8.8 seconds. Ride performance improvements include lowered sports suspensions and a bigger brake kit with black calipers.
In addition to this ABT Sportsline have also included styling kits that show-off a front spoiler, new dual exhaust pipes in an oval shape, tweaked head and tail light covers and a rear apron with a diffuser. In addition to this customers have the option to choose from a variety of alloy wheels ranging from 18 to 20 inches to replace their stock versions. Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO and founder of ABT Sportsline commented on this and said that this engine is just right for the Beetle and especially those who use their car often will value how economical and torquey the car has become after the tweak.
The Volkswagen Beetle present in India is the 2.0-litre, 1984cc, Automatic Transmission, petrol model, which is available at a price of Rs. 21.22 Lakh (Ex-Showroom New Delhi).
