    Upcoming Ford EcoSport Powered by Best Engine of the Year

    The 1.0 Litre EcoBoost inline-three Ford which is said to power the much awaited Ford SUV, the EcoSport has brought laurels to the company by winning the title for the ‘Best New Engine of the Year’ from the Engine Technology International magazine. The awards were based on the voting done by some of the world’s top automotive journalists and were announced during the Engine Expo that was held in Stuttgart, Germany on 4-6th June 2012. The 875cc twin cylinder TwinAir engine from Fiat had won this award last year.

    The 1.0 Litre EcoBoost inline-three Ford which is said to power the much awaited Ford SUV, the EcoSport has brought laurels to the company by winning the title for the ‘Best New Engine of the Year’ from the Engine Technology International magazine. The awards were based on the voting done by some of the world’s top automotive journalists and were announced during the Engine Expo that was held in Stuttgart, Germany on 4-6th June 2012. The 875cc twin cylinder TwinAir engine from Fiat had won this award last year.

    The EcoBoost engine is offered in two variants which either gets direct fuel injection or a low inertia turbocharger, currently available just in the European market. One is the 99hp and the second variant is 123hp. On the European testing cycle the 99hp is said to be capable to deliver 20.83kmpl and the 123bhp would deliver close to 20kmpl. The Volkswagen 1.4-litre TSI Twincharger that powers VW Polo, VW Jetta, Audi A1, Audi A3 internationally, to name a few. The Ferrari 4.5 Litre V8 stands at the next in line. This engine powers Ferrari 458 Italia and 458 Spider globally. 

    The others standing in this list were the GM 1.4 Litre range extender, BMW 2 Litre twin turbo four cylinder petrol, BMW/BMW/PSA 1.6-litre turbo petrol that powers the Mini Cooper S, BMW 3-series Turbo six- cylinder gasoline, BMW M4- Litre V8 and Audi 2.5 Litre five cylinder turbo, which the Audi TT runs on. Ford Motors has proved its mettles amongst such eminent players from the global automobile sector. This gives Ford Motors a very competitive edge and also adds to the excitement amongst the Indian auto enthusiast for the launch of the Ford EcoSport which might hit the Indian markets late this year or early next year.
