The new engine is based on the 1.2 Xeta motor which powered the Indica for a small tenure, and develops 65PS. With this engine, Tata aims to offer good drivability and fuel efficiency rather than the outright performance. Tata recently discontinued the Vista D90, which get its power from the 1.4-litre engine producing 90bhp.

Tata's diesel cars generates majority of its sales and it will be interesting to see how this engine would help the carmaker to gain more market in the country.
