Tata Motors will start feasibility study before e-Indica launch
Tata Motors will commence a feasibility study before launching the electric version of Tata Indica in India. The motive of the study would be present market demand and cost equation in domestic arena. Tata Motors is developing the electric version of Tata Indica in collaboration of a Norway-based company. The electric Tata Indica would be introduced in the European market by 2011.

Prakash M Telang, MD (India Operation) Tata Motors, informed that the feasibility study would begin from next year and it will be targeted to know present market demand of e-cars and its acceptable cost in the country. He added that as it will be an expensive car, cost equation will be major factor. Mr Telang mentioned that power is also not easily available in India. It is to be mentioned here that the electric car, Tata Indica, is already displayed in Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) annual convention in 2008 and at Geneva Motor Show this year. However, for the time being, Indian customers can enjoy two new launches shortly-Volkswagen Beetle and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.
