Tata Motors sold 20% lesser cars in February

Total sales of Tata Motors passenger and commercial vehicles (including exports) were up by 6 percent in February 2016. The home-grown automaker sold 46,674 vehicles in the month, as against 44,233 vehicles retailed in February last year.

Passenger vehicle division of the Tata Motors delivered 10,962 vehicles to the customers in February, posting a decline of 20 percent compared over the last year’s 13,767 vehicles. The wholesales of passenger cars were lower by 21 percent at 9,284 cars, compared to 11,805 cars, in February last year. The Utility Vehicle sales also witnessed a dip of 14 percent at 1,678 vehicles.

While, cumulative sales of all passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal remained at 118,080 vehicles, lower by marginal 1 percent over the last year.

In commercial vehicles, sales continued to grow at 14,872 Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles sold during last month, higher 22 percent over February 2015.

The Light & Small Commercial Vehicle sales also witnessed 10 percent growth at 15,698 vehicles retailed in February. The overall commercial vehicles sales for Tata Motors in the domestic market stood at 30,570 vehicles during last month, posting an increase of 15 percent, compared to 26,555 vehicles in February 2015.

The company's sales from exports remained at 5,142 vehicles in February 2016, higher 31 percent as compared to 3,911 vehicles sold in February 2015. While the cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal stood at 51,679 vehicles, 16 percent more than 44,498 vehicles sold last year.
