Skoda Laura to be renamed Skoda Octavia
Rumor has it that Skoda India is mulling to chnage the name of Skoda Laura to Skoda Octavia. When Skoda was launching its new Skoda Octavia in the market it did not want to discontinue the older Skoda Octavia. So the company named this premium sedan as Skoda Laura, by doing this the company was able to have both the models for sales in the market.

Skoda Octavia soon after the launch of Skoda Laura lost its momentum. The sedan cars from the other brands took attention of the Indian buyers and Skoda Octavia got out shined. So Skoda was forced to discontinue the production of this sedan, and now the new Skoda Rapid sedan will take its place.

At present the tag of Skoda Octavia is not used by the company in any of its car. So the company has decided to remove the Laura tag from the next generation car and rename it as Skoda Octavia. This next generation Skoda Octavia is supposed to be launched in 2013.The company si also working towards the launch of a low cost variant of crossover named Skoda Yeti. The previous model of Skoda Yeti was placed in the price tag of 15-17 lakh. At such high price the sales of the car were much less than expected.

Reports revealed that the company added a good number of luxuries features in the car which gave this car such high price. But as per the recent reports it is said that the company is going to launch a new version of this car in the market by the end of 2011. This new version will be priced low, so that atleast the company could reach the expected sales figure. This new car might come up equiped with both the petrol and the diesel engines in the country.At present date the company under its brand sells Skoda Fabia, Skoda New Laura and Skoda Superb.
