Renault Showcases Duster 4WD; Launch Next Month
Renault India has started showcasing the new Duster 4WD to media fraternity (Four-Wheel-Drive – 4X4); the launch is slated for next month. This AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) version is similar to the existing Duster apart from new decals and Duster Adventure edition mods and ofcourse four wheel drive setup! The AWD version is likely to be available in two trims, one of which will be the top-end with all goodies on board and the other one would be low on features. The 4WD version will be costlier than the existing Duster variants.
Furthermore, this makes Duster the sole compact SUV in the country to sports four-wheel-drive, giving it an edge over its rivals - EcoSport and Terrano. This makes the Duster 4WD to compete with Mahindra Scorpio 4×4, Tata Safari Storme 4×4 (both are likely to receive a facelift quite soon in coming months)..
Speaking of the changes, the headlight is smoked along with the gun metal finish alloy wheels just the like Duster Adventure edition. The side profile features a huge 'AWD' decaling along with the rear quarter window. The boot-lid gets a '4WD' badging, all these things differentiate the Duster 4WD from the regular Duster.
On the inside, the Duster 4WD gets red and black upholstery with contrasting stitching, tweaked soft-touh dash and steering wheel, new instrumentation cluster and a touch-screen infotainment system from LG with navigation.
About the 4WD, it gets shift-on-fly 4WD that features three modes - 2WD, Auto and 4WD Lock; along with Electronic Torque control system and Hil-start assist, cruise control and Eco mode. The Duster AWD is available with the diesel engine solely, similar 1.5 K9K turbo diesel that used to power the compact SUV ever since its debut on the Indian soil mated to a six-speed manual. The manufacturer claims a fuel economy of 19.72km/l for the Duster 4WD.
