Renault Duster facelift testing begins; launch likely in third quarter
Renault Duster facelift has been a talk of the town since its introduction at 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. Looking at its sales graph, the Duster has been following a negative slope, and this could be the reason for the French automajor to bring on the facelift of the SUV. The most competitive of the lot has been Ford's Ecosport, which has created an impact over Duster's sales. We expect the facelift to arrive by third quarter, and to bring more of affirmation over its launch, there are speculations regarding its test runs going on Indian roads.

The facelift Duster is likely to get various exterior and interior upgrades, which is a step forward to attract more buyers. The compact SUV segment has been highly competitive, and so the carmakers are on their toes to meet the market expectations. The upgraded Duster features restyled front grille, blacked out headlamps, additional cladding to pump up its sporty appeal. To a certain extent, we can expect the interiors to receive minor upgrades that would make insides more plush and upscaled. There's possibility that Duster may not receive more of prominent changes as the vehicle is not too old in the market to get a complete facelift. And, we presume it that the new design would be preserved for the later years.
Interestingly, there are also rumours that the company may add on new variants, opening options for the buyers. Also, considering the competitors like Nissan Terrano, Ecosport and Quanto, the French automaker may also introduce Duster with 4x4 mechanism. This mechanism could be followed with the top-of-line diesel variant, while the petrol ones will continue to come with the usual front wheel drive. Talking about its rivals, the Ecosport has been doing great business since its introduction in the market. And, now the company is even gearing up to increase production capacity, which would help getting rid of long waiting period for Ecosport's customers. But, the ones who are not looking to wait for too long, may shift, buying Duster instead.
