The new-generation Santa Fe gets Hyundai Fluidic Design and the images of this vehicle were captured by one of our avid readers Jayanth Nathan. The vehicle has been doing test rounds in South India, close to the company’s Chennai plant. The new Santa Fe that featured last year at the New York Motor Show, was due to be launched in India this year as it has already made its entry into several markets.

The new Santa Fe is larger in dimensions when compared to the soon-to-be-outgoing model— it is 30mm longer, 45mm lower and 5mm wider. The vehicle will be powered by the same 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine that thumps 422Nm of torque to produce 194bhp of maximum power. This engine will be available with six-speed manual and automatic transmission, powering the front or all the wheels. It will be assembled in the company’s Chennai plant and it should cost between Rs 22-26lakhs.

The new Santa Fe is likely to be a five-seater, as that’s how the third-generation has been. We believe Hyundai will be working out its way to get the seven-seater Grand Santa Fe to India. The previous-generation was a seven-seater, hence people will want to have a seven-seater than a five.

The features on the Santa Fe are as follows:

    -       Hill Assist

    -       ESP

    -       18/19-inch alloy wheels

    -       Touchscreen infotainment system

    -       Satellite navigation

    -       Xenon headlamps

    -       Day-time running LED lamps

    -       Multiple airbags

    -       Keyless entry and push start

    -       Reverse parking camera

    -       Tyre pressure monitor

The Fluidic design has won hearts of several and Hyundai now has now of the best selling sedans even in the D segment, with the Elantra. The Verna too has been a runaway success from the word Go! Hyundai got some good numbers from the previous Santa Fe and we are expecting them to further build on this. Hyundai might not be able to match the number of Fortuner and Rexton initially, but who knows the Korean company could even has a strategy for that.
