Mitsubishi plans to increase Outlander price by 2 per cent
Mitsubishi, the premium carmaker has said that it will hike the price of Outlander, company’s newly launched SUV. The carmaker has added that this hike will be of two percent and it will be valid from September onwards. This way the company has withdrawn the introductory offer on Outlander. When Outlander was introduced in May, it had a 2.4-litre Bharat Stage IV petrol engine and was available for Rs 19.95 lakh.
Mitsubishi is presented in India through a technical collaboration with Hindustan Motors.Vijay Kumar, Hindustan Motors Executive Vice President and Business Head, said that they are going to hike the price of Outlander which was earlier an introductory one. The hike will be of around two per cent and it will be in effect from September 1. Earlier, the company had launched the new SUV Rs 70,000 cheaper than the old Outlander. Kumar added that the company sold about 150 units of the Outlander last month in comparison to 35-40 units of the old version. He also said that the company expects to sell 250 units this month.
Presently, other than Outlander, Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi are selling sedans Lancer and Cedia, SUVs Pajero and Montero, in India. Mitsubishi Motors Corp had announced to launch its Evolution series of cars and a new variant of its SUV Pajero this fiscal because the company hopes to double its sales in 2010-11 from about 2,200 cars in 2009-10. The company was planning to introduce one or two Evolution series models in India in 2009. But this decision was put on hold because of a downturn in the global auto market. Currently, HM-Mitsubishi has 40 dealerships across the country.
