The Windsor EV Pro gets some new features and a larger battery pack that makes it a more worthy rival to the Mahindra XUV400. We find out which is the better rival on paper
The MG Windsor EV Pro was launched recently with a larger battery pack and some new comfort and safety features that makes it a better all-rounder EV in its segment. It locks horns with the Mahindra XUV400, which has been on sale for a while now. So, can the new Windsor EV Pro prove itself to be better than the Mahindra rival on paper? Let us find out.

While the battery rental plan of the MG Windsor EV reduces the initial cost significantly, not opting for it makes the MG EV priced similarly to the Mahindra XUV400’s top-spec EL Pro variant. Do note that both EVs come with smaller battery pack options too, which have a lower asking price.

The MG Windsor EV is larger than the Mahindra XUV400 in all regards, which means it will offer more space inside the cabin. Even though both rivals measure over 4 metres in length, the Windsor EV Pro has a larger boot than the Mahindra rival.

While the Essence Pro variant of the Windsor EV gets a single larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, the Mahindra XUV400’s top variant offers the choice of two battery pack options. It must also be noted that the Mahindra rival gets a more powerful electric motor that produces 14 PS and 110 Nm more than the Windsor EV’s unit.
The MG Windsor EV, despite the larger battery pack and lesser powerful e-motor, offers slightly lesser claimed range than the Mahindra. However, the MG has been tested as per MIDC Part 1 + Part 2 standard whereas the Mahindra has been tested for just MIDC Part 1.

- Both EVs get common amenities including LED DRLs, LED tail lights, dual-tone black and white cabin, a wireless phone charger, 6 airbags and rear parking sensors.

The MG Windsor EV gets a lot of additional features in comparison to the Mahindra EV, such as LED headlights, flush-type door handles, bigger 18-inch alloy wheels, 135-degree reclining rear seats, bigger 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 9-speaker sound system, powered tailgate, V2V, V2L, 360-degree camera and ADAS.

The Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro, on the flip side, features a bigger 10.25-inch driver’s display and dual-zone auto AC, both of which are not available with the MG rival.
Which EV To Buy?
The MG Windsor EV Pro, with a bigger battery pack now, comes at a price that is similar to the Mahindra XUV400’s top-spec variant. At this price point, it gets more modern-day comfort and convenience features, which are altogether missing on the Mahindra rival. Moreover, it is larger than the XUV400 in every manner and comes with a 135-degree reclining seat that will be more comfortable for rear seat occupants. It also has a larger boot space allowing it to carry more luggage than the XUV400 EV.
The Mahindra XUV400 has been on sale for a long time now and in a desperate need for an update to keep it in line with the increased competition. Mahindra was spotted testing an electric version of the XUV 3XO, which is expected to be launched by 2026. Until then, the MG Windsor EV is better than the Mahindra EV on paper in every aspect.
