Mercedes India mulls small cars at a price of Rs 15 lakhs and above

According to the recent developments in Indian Automobile World, Mercedes Benz India MD & CEO Peter T Honegg said that they are in talks with their German Office regarding the release of small segment compact cars like Mercedes Benz-A Class and Mercedes Benz-B Class in India. And Indian market has a great potential. As per reports, all the premium car brands are now targeting the middle-class people in India and as Indian consumer are looking for premium cars, they require pricing in affordable range.

As per survey reports, the expectations of consumers in India are increasing and due to the improved financial condition of middle class people, the economy of India is progressing. Furthermore, after the launch of BMW X1 crossover in the under Rs 30 lakh segment, more and more car companies are entering in this segment. And Mercedes Benz is also planning to enter with its Mercedes Benz A-Class and Mercedes Benz B-Class cars which are in hatchback segment and are popular in Europe and America auto markets.

Now the question arises that whether India is prepared for compact hatchback under the price tag of Rs 15 lakh plus or not? If reports are true then the premium car brands in India have already analyzed the situation and planning to offer compact cars in the high-end segment.

According to the reliable sources, since Mercedes Benz car is planning to launch new cars in India, the new 2012 Mercedes Benz A-Class is going to be based on Mercedes’ MFA platform and could incorporate front wheel drive as compared to the BMW 1-Series which encompasses a rear wheel drive. This car is designed to allure the Indian consumers and Mercedes Benz will leave no stone unturned in doing so. However, the end result will depend on the price tag, that whether it increases the sales figure or turn back.
