About a month later, information pertaining to the hot-hatch has been leaked online, indicating that the car will be available in three color schemes viz. black, white and matt grey. The car will also feature sporty aesthetics, courtesy of contrasting decals on the hood, roof, tailgate and doors. Fiat India also teased the car on its official website in a black and red color scheme, where it flaunted red accents on the grille and foglight enclosures. The car will tread on 16-inch Scorpion Sting alloy wheels that will go well with the Abarth trademark Scorpion badging, which replaces Fiat logos on the car.

The car will be powered by Fiat Linea’s 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine that has been tweaked to deliver 145bhp of power and 212Nm of maximum torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox, which if operated skillfully will help this car accelerate from 0-100kmph in under 8.8 seconds. Claimed mileage stats of 16.3 kmpl have been leaked online. To enhance the aerodynamics, the height of the car has been reduced by 20mm and the suspension has been stiffened. Abarth punto will also feature disc brakes on all four corners to improve its handling characteristics.

Bookings of the car have already started for an amount of INR 50,000. The car is expected to be launched in coming weeks and will probably be priced at around Rs. 10 lacs.
