It’s Official! Tesla India’s First Showroom Set To Open In Mumbai On July 15
The Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y are the first cars expected to be on display
We have some good news for Tesla fans who have been waiting for the American EV-maker’s entry into the Indian market. The carmaker is set to inaugurate its first showroom on our shores on July 15, 2025 in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. We expect the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y to be on display. That said, it remains to be seen if there will be a price announcement or not.
Earlier, we had reported that Tesla has listed job openings for its maiden dealership in Mumbai. Notably, based on the job listings, it looks like Tesla dealerships will operate as a full-blown 3S (sales, service and spares) company-operated outlet. This is a major difference when compared to other brands, who allocate a dealer partner to run the show.
It must be noted that Tesla’s India entry is long overdue, considering the lengthy discussions the carmaker had with the government. The carmaker initially planned to import vehicles to test the market and had even requested tax concessions for the same. Eventually, the Indian government agreed to it, but with terms and conditions such as an investment of $500 million and building a manufacturing facility within three years.
Nevertheless, Tesla’s first showroom opening in India is great news and a sigh of relief for those eagerly awaiting the brand on our shores. We expect the carmaker to soon expand its presence to other major cities in the near future. Globally, the carmaker has five models on sale - Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck.
