Hyundai Mulling to Launch Tucson in India

Hyundai India is thinking to bring its SUV, the new Tucson, to India. The only SUV of the South Korean company which is not yet launched in India was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show this year. The car is in its third generation and the new up-to-date design makes it comparable with Hyundai’s Santa Fe. The new Tucson features all the Hyundai’s top grade features like the fresh hexagonal grille, stretched headlamps making their way up to fenders and foglamps lit with two separate lighting elements.

    Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai Tucson is back with a bang in India after a brief sabbatical. Hyundai has sensed the growing surge in the SUV segment in the country, so the new Tucson SUV is an outcome of that. Though the car doesn’t have any direct competitor in the country, but soon it could face rivalry from Volkswagen Tiguan in the same segment. The new Tucson is markedly different from Creta which has got a conventional SUV shape. The car gets many curves on its exteriors and is designed more like a sports coupé than a Sports Utility Vehicle. This is much evident from the side profile of the car. Although the car tries to get a Santa Fe like look on the rear side, but even that seems to be an attempt by Hyundai to maintain new Tucson’s SUV identity. Although the car looks slightly old fashioned from inside, Hyundai has equipped it with  sophisticated features like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist and a blind spot assist system. The vehicle comes with 2 engine options: 1.7-litre engine and a hefty 2.0-litre motor delivering 182 bhp of power. The unit is likely to cost around Rs. 18 lacs which would help it overcome its long time rival, Honda CR-V. Expressing his pleasure over the evolution of design of the car, President and chief design officer Peter Schreyer said, “The new Tucson represents the future for us, as it is the SUV that pioneers the new look, especially the grille and headlights.”
