Honda India Gets New President & CEO

Honda has decided to make changes in its top management in India, with effect from April 1, 2016. Mr. Yoichiro Ueno will take over as the new President & CEO of HCIL (Honda Cars India Ltd). This change was announced by Honda Motor Company’s Board of Directors on February 23, 2016, in New Delhi. Mr. Ueno will take over from Katsushi Inoue, who will now be holding the office of Chief Operating Officer for Regional Operations (Europe region).

Mr. Ueno was working as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. since January 2011. He was also the Assistant Vice President of Automobile Sales of American Honda Motor Co. Inc, before taking over as the Chief Executive Officer. His duties in America involved overall planning and coordination of sales and marketing in the US market. He has been a part of the Honda family for over 30 years and has served in markets like Japan, New Zealand and Thailand. Also, he has worked with overseas divisions and countries such as Asia and Oceania, China and North America.

Accord Facelift

Recently, the facelift of Honda Accord was unveiled. This India bound variant features cosmetic updates both inside and outside the car. Some of the changes includes a new chrome grille, new LED headlamps, a redesigned aggressive front bumper and LED fog lamps. This LED-fication now is available in taillamp clusters. Interiors now feature a new wooden trim and piano black finish, a 7.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with WiFi Hotspot, mirrorlink connectivity, Apple CarPlay as well as a remote ignition facility. Powering the car will be a 2.0-litre and a 2.4-litre petrol engine. These engines produce 153bhp and 172bhp respectively. A petrol electric hybrid variant is also expected to enter Indian markets when the car is launched.
