Perhaps, the introduction of the Camry in a hybrid avatar and its popularity forced Honda to reinstated its flagship sedan – the Accord – in the Indian market and, this time it is offered solely with a hybrid variant. Honda Cars India launched the global facelifted ninth-generation Accord in 2016. The Japanese automaker discontinued the eighth-generation Accord from India in 2013 owing to diminutive scales and buyers’ inclination towards diesel-powered cars (the Accord never came with a diesel motor). However, the Accord’s arch rival – the Toyota Camry – continued with a petrol offering. Will the new hybrid-only Honda Accord help the nameplate in its second innings? Time to find out!

The current Honda Accord is possibly the best-ever iteration of the nameplate, but it’s direct Thai-import results in an exorbitant price tag. However, Honda is trying to cover it with the Accord’s more advanced hybrid powertrain, compared to the Toyota Camry Hybrid, which is its sole competitor, along with all of its latest global tech such as the LaneWatch, and others.
"The Honda Accord arguably makes up for its exorbitant pricing with the most advanced hybrid powertrain in its segment and all the gizmos it offers. "
