The sedan has made its debut in Thailand

Update - February 14, 2017: The 2017 Honda City has been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 8.50 lakh

The wait is over, ladies and gentlemen! The facelifted Honda City has been launched in Thailand and it receives a few nips and tucks, along with some feature updates. Let’s get straight to it:

Exterior

The changes are primarily visible on the outside. The sedan gets spruced up with the addition of LED headlights along with daytime-running LEDs that sit in tweaked headlamps clusters, while the chrome radiator grille is now slimmer. The front bumper has been reworked as well and the fog lamp housings are now smaller.

The changes to the rear aren’t as prominent, but the car does feature a more aggressively styled rear bumper that gets a black honeycomb insert to cut the derriere’s bulk. Additionally, while the Thai-spec City retains the old tail lights, the Indian model will get a new set of clear-lens lamps, and a rear spoiler with an integrated stop light is expected as well. To the side, we see a funky looking set of 16-inch alloy wheels, though it remains to be seen if these will be offered in India too (we sure hope so!).

Interior

The changes in the cabin are of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it variety, but the touchscreen infotainment system gets a few minor updates and includes Bluetooth compatibility for both Android and iOS phones. The cabin also gets LED map and interior lights. The safety package is also enhanced with the inclusion of dual front + side and curtain airbags, vehicle stability assist (VSA) and a multi-angle rear view camera, though we’ll have to see if the India-spec City facelift will get the same kit.

Powertrains

The changes are limited to the styling and feature updates, and the City will continue with the same powertrain options – a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol mill (5-speed manual gearbox/CVT) and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel mill (6-speed manual gearbox only).

Expect Honda Car India to launch the updated City towards the end of this month or early next month. As of today, the outgoing Honda City is priced between Rs 8.32-12.66 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
