Honda Brio makes India a strong contender in Asia chapter
Honda Brio was a launched in India a few days ago. This small car by Honda was one of the most awaited cars in India. The launch of Honda Brio has surely paved the way for the country to become the major center for Honda’s car business in Asia. Honda is also looking at Indonesia and Malaysia for business as they have ability to become strong strategic pillars in Asia. As per the CEO and President of Honda India, Mr. Takashi Nagai, Malaysia and Indonesia are one of the most flourishing economies and Honda will here meet the needs on special basis. Earlier, Thailand was the main hub for Honda in its ASEAN operations, but times have changed and so did the divisions.

However, Mr. Takashi Nagai also mentioned that it is not decided whether Honda Brio will be manufactured in Indonesia or Malaysia, but it is by now an element of Thailand’s eco car plan. Honda Brio is actually an exclusive hatchback car that is made for India and Thailand. Furthermore, there would be some small exports to Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan too. This time around, with Honda Brio, India kept major importance as the Indian car market is growing at a very rapid speed. Moreover, India is said to become Honda’s most huge and largest 2 wheeler base in next 5 years. The business of Honda has been growing swiftly even after the separation with Hero group.

Mr. Nagai also said that India could really play a much bigger and important global role in future for cars although the local market is the top most priority now. In the near future, Honda India has its focus on producing and exporting more fuel efficient cars like Honda Brio to Europe. But, all these plans will purely depend on the international economy, which is still flimsy now. Honda Brio has been localized to 80%, and Honda India has plans to enhance this figure to 90% in the next couple of months. However, this localization will take a little more time. Once the localization is done, Honda Brio price will come to Rs. 3 lakh segment, where it could give a tough competition to Maruti Alto and soon to be launched Hyundai Eon.
