GM To Hike Prices of its Entire Model Line-up by 2015

In order to mind the gap between rising input and product cost, General Motors India announced that it will increase the prices of its entire model lineup from the next month. The automaker will hike the prices across its product portfolio by up to Rs 20,000 from January 2015.

In country, General Motors through its Chevrolet brand retails a total of eight models. The Chevrolet Spark is company’s entry level hatch while the Captiva is the automaker's premium SUV in price band of Rs 23.75 lac to Rs. 25.85 lac. As a result of price hike, all the eight models will now cost more.

General Motors India, Vice President P Balendran said, "We have decided to increase the price of all car models to the tune of 1 per cent with effect from January 1 due to input cost pressure. The quantum ranges between Rs 5,000 to 20,000 depending upon the models and variants,"

As of now (before the price hike), the Spark is priced between Rs 3,45,210 to Rs 4,00,172 while the Beat hatch costs in between Rs 4,01,664 to Rs 5,93,971.

Moreover, as the year is about to end, the company is also offering attractive discounts and benefits on its selected model lineup. The offer is valid till the stock lasts. To lure new buyers, the carmaker is offering discounts and benefits of upto INR 85,500 including cash discount, exchange bonus, loyalty bonus and corporate discounts for the this particular month. The offer is available on entire product line-up except Captiva SUV, and can be availed through company's 255 dealerships across the country.

Maximum benefits of upto INR 85,500 is being offered on Enjoy MPV, followed by Beat hatchback with up to INR 83,000 benefits. The recently-updated Sail series, both sedan and hatchback comes with benefits of upto INR 55,000.
