Ford to Increase Foothold in Europe with Improved Line-up, Ford Mustang to Launch Soon
Ford is leveraging the company’s One Ford global portfolio with detailed aggressive product acceleration in Europe. They introduced a series of new passenger cars, commercial vehicles and new technologies at the event held in Amsterdam. They also confirmed that several vehicles, from its global line-up will be coming in to Europe in the near future. The highlight amongst these will be the Ford Mustang.
Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally, said, “We are accelerating the introduction of our new products in Europe, leveraging our One Ford plan - with a full family of vehicles offering the very best quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design and value –just like we did when we transformed our business in North America.” Adding to this, Stephen Odell, Ford of Europe Chairman and CEO said, “The European market holds potential for profitable growth that’s clouded at the moment by the economic crisis. The total European car and CV market, including Russia, is expected to grow 20 percent in the next five years to 23 million vehicles.”
Ford unveiled the new Fiesta with new sharper design, improved fuel efficiency, host of new technologies like Ford SYNC, Active City Stop etc. When it comes to Asia Pacific and Africa region, it will come equipped with 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine which is expected to deliver best in class fuel economy. Next in line is the all new Ford Mondeo with its striking design and premium level interior craftsmanship. As stated by Raj Nair, Ford Group Vice President of Global Product Development, “The new Mondeo will change perceptions of Ford large cars by offering an unbeatable blend of premium design, craftsmanship and smart technology without the premium price.”
Coming to the SUV segment, Ford plans to leverage its historic leverage in SUVs in North America and other regions around the world and expand its lineup in Europe. Ford announced the EcoSport for Europe and said that it will be up on sale within 18 months. Along with this there is the all new Kuga which will be offered with a sharper design and improved technology and the Edge which will be a larger and more premium crossover that is currently running successfully in America and China. “The expanding European SUV market is a unique opportunity for Ford and lands right in our sweet spot,” said Jim Farley, group vice president of Global Marketing, Sales and Service. “No other company can touch Ford’s expertise, global portfolio and credibility when it comes to SUVs.
