Ford Ecosport caught in South Bombay

Our of our avid readers and South Bombay resident, Samira Kelkar spotted the Ford Ecosport while it was doing some rounds on Marine Drive. This is the same Ecosport that was spotted sometime ago in Navi Mumbai's Ford workshop and was out possibly for a ride.

This one was the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol engine that is likely to revolutionise the petrol engine's current line-up. The other engines that will be on offer will be the 1.5-litre diesel that currently powers the Ford Fiesta.

The EcoSport is sub 4-metre, this further gives it a duty cut and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine will get the smaller engine excise benefit too. The product looks good and the enquiries for it are high as well. Now all depends on how does Ford market and price the product.

The company has been working on increasing the local content and it could have 85% local parts. This will help Ford to reduce the cost of the vehicle and also make the ownership cost more affordable.

From what we understand, the EcoSport will be available on sale sometime in the month of June, or May at the earliest.
