Ford has taken one step further to increase connectivity between the occupants and their Ford car. The American carmaker has launched Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, compatible with its SYNC connectivity system.

“SYNC allows customers to bring the smartphone technology they’re comfortable with into a vehicle and use it without hassle. With SYNC, we move at our customers’ pace – making it easy for them to maintain a connected lifestyle no matter their choice of smartphone, apps or services inside and outside their vehicle,” said Don Butler, Ford Executive Director, Connected Vehicle and Services.

Presently 15 million vehicles of Ford are equipped with SYNC and the company expects the numbers to go up to 43 million by 2020. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be available in 2017 models in North America. It will be starting with the all-new Ford Escape. Owners of 2016 vehicles with SYNC 3 can get the upgrade later this year. Another important addition is the 4G LTE, which will power the SYNC Connect technology. Using this, the owner can remotely access features of the car. To name some features, one will be able to schedule a remote start, unlock doors, check fuel level or locate a parked vehicle. All this can be done via a smartphone.

Though the carmaker has not yet announced the addition for Indian models, it is expected to launch Mustang soon in the Indian market.
