Force Motors has announced that their extreme off-road vehicle, Force Gurkha, will be available for sale in their dealerships from September 2014. Though the prices for Gurkha were announced for sale in February 2013, oddly, the company had not made the car available for sale. Improvements have been made to the car after receiving feedback from both experts and users. The Gurkha comes with a warranty of 3 year or 3, 00,000 km and will be made available in three variants - 2WD soft top, 4WD soft top and 4WD hard top, priced at Rs 6.25 lakh, Rs 8.35 lakh and Rs 8.5 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi respectively and are as announced in February 2013.

No changes have been made to the engine or the transmission as the Gurkha continues to be powered by the 2.6 litre Mercedes OM 616 derived turbo charged intercooled engine. Mated to a 5 speed synchromesh transmission, the engine produces a maximum power of 81 hp at 3200 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm at 1800-2000 rpm.

Force Gurkha comes loaded with 4WD with Hi - Lo option, while the crawler feature enables it to climb up steep gradients without even stepping on the accelerator. According to the terrain, the ECU senses supplies the fuel. The reinforced tubular chassis comes into play when the vehicle is subjected to off-road situations to withstand extreme torsional stresses it gets. The distinctive Spring-over-Axle gives the car improved clearance and off-roading capabilities.

Force Motors Managing Director, Mr. Prasan Firodia said, “The feedback received from auto experts and select group of users during test drives has helped us further fine tune the Force Gurkha into an extremely capable off roader.”

The Gurkha has its own unique features like it is the only vehicle that comes equipped with differential locks on both front and rear axles. It has a distinctive air intake “Snorkel” in sparkling chrome finish that ensures ample supply of fresh air to the engine even while water wading. Other features include best in class ground clearance, hard top with air conditioning and power steering.

The Gurkha’s suspension setup gets independent with solid torsion bar to the front and semi elliptical leaf spring to the rear. Both ends get hydraulic telescopic shock absorber and anti roll bar. Force Gurkha is the second vehicle to be launched under the Personal Vehicles Division after Force One, which was launched in August 2011.
