Exclusive: Chevrolet Sail Hatchback Launching in September or October- Sources

General Motors India, which has already launched the Cruze with an upgraded engine and the Captiva facelift in the last month, is in the news again; and this time for bringing in an all new brand, Chevrolet Sail to India, which has already gained much popularity.  The company official have stated it clearly that the sail twins (hatchback and Sedan) will replace not-so-doing-well Chevrolet Aveo U-VA hatchback and Aveo sedan. But the questions that still remained unanswered were, the launch date of Chevrolet Sail brand and whether both the sedan and hatchback versions will come together or not, therefore we contacted to our sources at GM, and they said, it is the Sail Hatchback, which will be launched first; Sedan version will come afterwards.

When we further asked them about the launch date of the Sail hatchback, they hinted us that the launch will either take place in coming September or October. And the sedan’s launch too is not very far, this will come within a month or two after the hatchback is launched. Chevrolet Sail Hatchback was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo, held in Delhi, and looking at it one can figure out that the design however is something not exceptional, still front fascia with the well set up headlamps, chrome and chevy’s Logo makes it look impressive.

The hatchback version will directly compete with the market leader Maruti Suzuki’s most selling car, the Swift. Having a good wheelbase, we expect the sail hatchback to be better in spaciousness than many other available in the market, the engine will be the Smartech, which currently powers the Beat. So the mileage will certainly help it getting the competitive advantage over others. Chevrolet Enjoy MPV is the other vehicle, which is on the cards for GM in India.
