Chevrolet Volt priced at $41,000 in US

Though, the price tag of Chevrolet has been kept comparatively low, but it is quite higher as compared to the Rs $32,780 price tag of its competitor Nissan Leaf, which is a fully electric car and will hit the roads by the end of this year. On the other hand, Toyota Prius, the best selling hybrid car carries a price tag in the range of $23,560 to $35,000.

The company has started receiving bookings for Chevrolet Volt through its selected dealerships in the state of California, Michigan and New York. It is expected that the GM will start delivering the Volt to the customers by the month of November this year. Moreover, the company has said that the Volt model would also be leased on a monthly amount of $350. By leasing the Volt the company will try to tap the customers who are either looking for lower monthly payments or are hesitant in buying it until they start feeling more comfortable with its technology.

According to Mr Joel Ewanick, vice president Marketing GM US, the 1.4-liter range-extending engine of Volt has made it offer a better value. By further comparing its running capacity against its arc rival Nissan Leaf, Mr Ewanick said that Nissan’s Leaf is expected to have a range of about 100 miles on a fully charged battery, but it does not have a backup power source. He also added that Volt’s engine will give the car a range of about 340 miles.
