Announced couple of weeks ago by GM India, likely to launch in the second half of this year!

Chevrolet has started testing its upcoming Trailblazer SUV in the country. The vehicle is expected to launch in second half of this year. GM India’s sales has been dwindling gradually month on month and with no such prominent updates and new launches the American giant has seems to be woken-up from the slumber!

Trailblazer will compete with the very popular Toyota Fortuner (averages around 1,500 units monthly), Hyundai Santa-Fe and the anticipated new 2016 Ford Endeavour (launching later this year). Let’s see how well Chevy India excel this time with the potent Trailblazer, considering a not-so-good attempt with the Captiva.

Speaking of the SUV, it seems to be a very promising product starting with powertrain it is mostly likely to be solely powered by a 2.8-liter 4-cylinder ‘Duramax’ diesel engine. The 2,776 cc motor packs variable geometry turbo producing 200 hp @ 3,600 rpm and a blistering 500 Nm @ 2000 rpm max torque. Transmission options expected to be a six-speed manual and a six-speed auto.

With 500Nm, Trailblazer is a proper beef - which the ‘Bowtie’ automaker is known for!

Trailblazer will also introduce Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system in India, currently sold in other Asian countries - It packs MyLink with 7-inch touch screen panel - sporting smartphone-iPod-iPhone integration and USB, AUX along with AC settings and vehicle dynamics!

Trailblazer Specs

  • Length: 4,866 mm
  • Width: 1,570 mm
  • Height: 1,848 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,845 mm
