It is expected that the Electric version of Chevrolet Spark will be launched with a higher price tag as compare to the existing Chevrolet Spark due to extra cost incurring on electric engines. The acquisition price may be slightly higher. But the operating costs will be very low, said Mr Gupta. Company is aiming to increase its market share to double digits in coming years.

Besides this the company is also in the process of starting production of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) in the country with its joint venture partner SAIC(a Chinies company). Mr Gupta added that the company is on growth path with selling about 70,000 units in year 2009. He said that company is expecting that it will increase this figure to 1-lakh units this year. Besides the launch of Chevrolet Spark Electric model the company is planning to phase out its Chevrolet Aveo model worldwide.
