2015 BMW X3 announced
With the 2014 Indian Auto Expo just concluding; here comes another big news from the hub of Munich based autogiant, BMW, in the form of facelifted version of its SUV BMW X3. As of now, the SUV is assembled locally at company's Chennai plant in India.
The updated 2015 X3 would pays a lot of resemblance to its elder sibling X5 which was just unveiled by the company at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. The exterior designing including the newly added bigger headlamps and optional LED headlights gives a shade of the 2014 BMW X5. Both the bumpers, front and rear, have gone under the hammer and they appear distinctly sporty. Furthermore, the foremost attention seeker is the BMW trademark kidney grille which is being tweaked smartly to make it more appealing and tempting. Additionally, wing mirror integrated turn indicators, new body colors and alloy wheel designs are a few other changes in the exterior.
Inside the cabin, the updated X3 would comprise of new cupholders, unique upholstery, and off course automatic tailgate opener. It features an all new gloss black center console which is just ravishing. As far as mechanical aspects of the vehicle are concerned, BMW is planning to roll out the vehicle with 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, oil burner which generates 190bhp of power output and 400 Nm of peak torque performance; owing to its popularity in India. The company currently offers 1-Series, 3-Series, 5-Series, and X1 with the same diesel powertrain and it churns out a decent 184 bhp of power and a top torque of 380 Nm. But, as aforementioned, it would belt out 6 bhp and 20 Nm more with the 2015 X3 with a subsequent dip of 7.1 percent in the fuel efficiency. It would be mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission and we expect the vehicle to fly on Indian streets by early 2015.
