2012 VW Beetle Gets More Engine Options

Volkswagen is further increasing the trims for the world’s favorite small car, Beetle by adding two new engine options. One of the new powertrain of the 2012 VW Beetle is a 2.0-litre TDI turbo diesel engine which is capable of producing 138bhp and the other new engine will be the 2.0-litre TSI Turbocharged petrol powertrain which is capable of churning 197bhp.

Both the engine variants will be available in 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual clutch DSG gearboxes. The 2.0 TDI comes with two trims, mid-level Design and top-line Sport trim. Recently, the new Volkswagen Beetle came in, in the U.K. The models launched were 1.2-litre TFSI engine and the 1.4-litre TSI engine.  The TFSI is capable of churning 104bhp with 7-speed DSG transmission and the TSi delivers 158bhp which is mated to 6-speed manual gearbox.

The TSI accelerates from 0-100kmph 7.5 seconds and TDI takes 9.5seconds to do the same. The top speed for the former is 224kmph and the latter speed up to 198kmph. The latest generation for the Volkswagen Beetle was revealed at the 2012 Auto Expo India which took place at New Delhi.
