2012 Premier Rio spotted in Pune
The domestic car maker Premier India might want to introduce a new Premier Rio version in 2012. The recently spotted Premier Rio on the Pune roads during the test runs is just another confirmation of the same. The heavily camouflaged test mule doesn’t offer much details on the revamped version. But, the speculations are rife that the new version is not much different from the outgoing model. The new Premiere Rio price for the diesel variant is expected to be around Rs 6 lakhs.

The spotted Rio SUV is supposed to carry a diesel engine under the hood. However, the specifications of the engine are still kept under the wraps, though sneaked information tells us that the new engine could be the Multijet engine sourced from Fiat. The Anti-Lock Braking system (ABS) was apparently present in the spotted version. However, the top-end Rio SUV also carries this feature, so we cannot say much about on this if this is a new addition or it is the high-end variant which is being tested.

The steering wheel definitely carries a pronounced change with lot of chrome inserts making it look more upmarket. From what is evident, the headlamps seem to be redesigned with a change in the front bumper that looks better than the outgoing model. Premier Rio is the only entry-level SUV and passenger vehicle offered by the auto major in the country. The SUV is offered in both the petrol and diesel engine trims with just the basic essential features of what is expected of an SUV.
