KWID highlights

Renault is offering exciting year-end offers on the Kwid on retails made between December 1 to December 31, 2017. Check out the details here

The Renault Kwid is among the most affordable and popular entry-level hatchbacks in India. It is available in five variants and two petrol engine options - 800cc and 1-litre - with the latter also offered with an automated manual transmission (AMT). The Renault Kwid has a claimed mileage of 25.17kmpl and 23.01kmpl with its 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre engines, respectively. The Renault Kwid AMT, on the other hand, returns a mileage of 24.04kmpl.

The standout features of the Renault Kwid include a first-in-class touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, digital speedometer, a dual-tone dashboard, AC, power steering and a front wiper with intermittent speeds. Safety features on the Renault Kwid include an optional driver’s side airbag, central locking, front seatbelts with pretensioners and child safety locks. Renault also offers a host of customisation options with the Renault Kwid such as decals, seat covers, body cladding and more. To know what each variant offers, check out here: Renault Kwid - Variants Explained.

The Renault Kwid is priced between Rs 2.61 lakh-3.74 lakh for the 800cc version and Rs 3.49-4.24 lakh for the 1.0-litre version (all prices, ex-showroom New Delhi). The Renault Kwid Climber, which is only offered with the larger engine, costs Rs 4.25 lakh for the manual version and the Rs 4.55 lakh for the AMT-equipped version. For buyers looking for a bit more flamboyant hatchback, the 02 Anniversary, which is priced at Rs 3.8 lakh for the 0.8-litre version and Rs 4.02 lakh for the 1.0-litre version, makes more sense. The Renault Kwid rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Alto K10, Hyundai Eon and Datsun Redi Go.

With Due Respect, Respectable Sir, I have Kwid car with registration number CH01BH2284 number. I was feeling proud to be owner of this car, but not now. 2 weeks back I was driving back from New Delhi to Chandigarh along with wife when on plain road while driving at the speed of near 20kms/h (Just got out from my relative home from inner road towards outer road), my car's front downwards arm got broken and car got down on road. All of sudden everything from front of car got on to road. Every... 14

I was very excited when my dad agreed to get me a car. The Kwid 1.0 was a no-brainer choice for me because of its SUV-like looks and anything was better than the old school Alto. I am not much experienced in driving but I like how it drives. Another thing that made me buy the Kwid was its equipment which it offers above the Alto, the 7-inch touchscreen system, I like it the most as I can play my music over Bluetooth, multiple customization options, driver side airbag, better ground clearance etc... 24

Renault KWID review

The Renault Kwid has gone from a radical concept that was the very first showcase of the 2014 Auto Expo, to a budget hatchback that is now one of India’s best-selling cars. The Renault Kwid is the French carmaker’s way of saying a budget car doesn’t have to be bland. This little hatchback is the first formidable rival the Maruti Alto has had in years and the Kwid continues to enjoy a great deal of popularity across India.

While its biggest selling points, initially, were the SUV-esque styling, its ride quality, and the touchscreen infotainment system, it’s now more versatile with 1.0-litre and AMT options available as well. Is it something you ought to consider buying? Let’s find out!

Things We Like in KWID

  • 1.0-litre engine is peppy. Optional AMT is a boon inside the city.
  • Renault Kwid boot space is a humongous 300-litres (Alto = 177-litres)
  • SUV inspired styling. The cladding and muscular elements makes it look like nothing else in the segment.
  • Renault Kwid offers spacious cabin compared to contemporaries, can seat four adults comfortably.

Things We Don't Like in KWID

  • Renault Kwid does not offers ABS option even on the top-end variant.
  • Interiors reek of cost cutting. Quality of materials could have been better.
  • The engine is noisy and vibrations unpalatable.
  • Best suited for city use alone. Runs out of breath on the highway.

Stand Out Features

  • Renault Kwid offers class-leading 300-litres of boot space

  • Digital Instrument Cluster is funky with a host of read outs that have never before been seen on in the segment. Shows distance to empty average & and real-time fuel consumption too!

  • Renault Kwid touchscreen MediaNav system is the best in class.

CarDekho Verdict

The Renault Kwid is amongst the best options in the segment. As an overall package, it provides distinctive styling, good driving performance and a good list of accessories. It also beats its competitors in terms of interior space and fuel economy.

"The KWIDs SUV inspired styling is sure to win your heart. The well equipped interior is the cherry on the cake."

The only thing that Renault needs to do is provide exceptional service and after-sales service and be able to put up with the demand. Maruti Suzuki Alto, you have finally met your match!
