Designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro from Italdesign, Bugatti first introduced the 18/3 Chiron in 1999 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. And with the arrival of this report, it is most likely to believe that the moniker will be making a comeback with the Veyron successor next year.

Chiron is the name of a centaur in Greek mythology, as-well-as a reference to Bugatti racing driver Louis Alexandre Chiron (1899 – 1979), who was influential in building the brand’s legend in the early parts of the last century. Interestingly, the name 'Veyron' also comes from another Bugatti racing legend, Pierre Veyron.

Born Brought up in Monaco, Louis Chiron, started his career with Bugatti in 1928. He was active in 1950’s inaugural season of Formula One, and also raced for the likes of Lancia and Maserati during his career. Although he saw much of his success with Bugatti, and eventually he got retired from racing in 1958. Though, Chiron was never honored with one of the recent six ‘Les Légendes de Bugatti’ special edition Veyrons that mark the end of the current car’s production. However, his name did feature on one of the original Giugiaro-penned concepts, that company produced in the late ‘90s to preview the Veyron.

The car will be packed with an uprated version of the Veyron’s quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-12, boosted further with hybrid technology, and the top speed is expected to be higher than the Veyron Super Sport’s world record top whack of 430 kmph
