Toyota recently revealed the Raize, a sub-4 metre SUV, in the Japanese market. This small SUV generated quite some buzz in India, with many even expecting it to be Toyota’s sub-4 metre SUV offering for the Indian market.

Well, having spoken to sources in Toyota, we can now confirm that is not the case. Toyota’s sub-4 metre for the Indian market will be based on the new-generation Vitara Brezza and will be launched in India sometime in 2022.
The Raize uses a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated to a CVT. Toyota’s sub-4 metre offering for India will use the same powertrain setup as the next-generation Vitara Brezza, which is likely to be a petrol-only model. And what’s more, the Raize is also available with a four-wheel drive system. These factors indicate that the Raize will not come to India.
One thing the Raize could lend to the sub-4 metre Toyota SUV, which will be based on the next-gen Vitara Brezza, is its styling. The Maruti and Toyota SUVs are expected to look different from each other, unlike the Baleno and Glanza, and we expect the Raize’s styling will be a good starting point for Toyota designers.

So, if you were waiting for Toyota to bring the Raize to India, you will have to settle for the next best thing: the sub-4 metre SUV from Toyota, which will be based on the next-gen Vitara Brezza. We expect Toyota to price it in the Rs 7 lakh to Rs 11 lakh price bracket. It will rival SUVs such as the next-gen EcoSport, the facelifted Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and more.

Desperately waiting Toyotas own product sub four mtr, but not the rebranded from Maruti Suzuki.
It’s disappointing to know that Tayota Raize is not likely to be launched in India in spite of its best features which would certainly buster Indian market if it is launched in India.
