Volkswagen India Launches 21st Century Beetle at Rs. 28.73 lacs

Volkswagen has launched the much awaited Beetle in the country at a starting price tag of Rs. 28.73 lacs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The bookings for the 21st century Beetle was already underway. Two years after the discontinuation, the German carmaker has re-launched the Beetle with new styling, updated interiors and powerful engine underneath.

Volkswagen Beetle has been launched in 4 color options viz. Oryx White, Habanero Orange, Blue Silk and Tornado Red. The new Beetle is powered by 1.4 liter TSI petrol engine that makes 150PS and 250Nm of torque, while the transmission duty is handled by 7-speed DSG.

The car comes with features like B-Xenon headlights along with LED daytime running lights and the fog lamps featuring static cornering lights. The rear comprises of LED tailights. The interiors of the car are in line with the contemporary design and technologies. The new Beetle features Composition Media touchscreen infotainment, powered by 8-speakers, leather upholstered seat, leather wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls, three ambient lightning options, rain sensors, auto headlamp activation, auto start/stop with regenerative braking and cruise control.

In the safety department, the car comes with 6 airbags which are standard across the trims besides ABS, ESC, Hill Hold Control, Park Distance control, Electronic immobilizer, etc. Volkswagen Beetle will lock horns with Mini Cooper S, BMW 1-Series and Mercedes-Benz A Class in the segment.
