Skoda Kodiak

Skoda has prepped up a new offering for the D-segment and in all probability, it will be called the Skoda Kodiak. The SUV is company’s all new seven-seater and was previously rumoured to be called Skoda Polar or take on the moniker “Skoda Snowman”. This seven-seat crossover is expected to arrive sometime next year and according to a report by Autoblid is most likely to be called Kodiak. The SUV won’t be a replacement for Skoda Yeti but will be placed over it in Skoda’s lineup.

Kodiak will find its foundations in the MQB platform of Volkswagen family and will share the platform with the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan XL SUV. Kodiak will also be a budget version of Tiguan and is designed aiming at markets like India and China.

Under the hood, Kodiak is expected to feature multiple engine options that will fall in the 1.4-liter to 2.0-liter range. The car will be available in both petrol (TSI) and turbo-diesel (TDI) variants. The powerplants might come coupled to a 7-speed DSG and a 6-speed manual transmission.

The SUV will have its world premiere at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, which will be held between 1st and 16th of October. Autobild has also reported that the SUV will be officially revealed in summer before the Paris motor show premiere.
