Renault is planning another car for the Asian market. It seems that the company has done its homework to introduce a crossover cum premium SUV for the potential markets of Asian subcontinent. The French automaker has revealed that upcoming SUV will replace Koleos, which is hardly making any numbers in the region. The car will be launched somewhere in the year 2017.

The automaker has announced that upcoming Koleos replacement will be positioned below Espace SUV and above Kadjar. According to the company, the SUV will be able to fend off blows from hardcore SUVs like Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Pajero while also stealing likes of Nissan X-Trail in the class.

Since Koleos has not been doing well due to its 5-seating capacity and high pricing drawbacks, the new 7-seater hopes to secure a strong position in Asian markets. The car will be built on CMF platform which is already providing a solid foundation in Qasqai, X-Trail and Kadjar. As per the engine specifications, there hasn't been any official word from the maker, but we can expect the 1.6 liter diesel engine for the car.

But company at least announced the name starting from letter ‘C’ or ‘K’. If we talk about Indian market in particular, Renault only managed to sell 38 units of Koleos SUV in the last six months of time. So French automaker will be surely betting high on this model if it gets launched in the Indian market. For now, the carmaker is preparing the launch of Lodgy MPV which is expected to be held next month. Renault has also updated Duster SUV for the Indian market recently.
