Seeing the test mules, the new Koleos is wider, long and more SUV like compared to the quirky looking Koleos that we have on our streets now. As a Renault and Nissan are under alliance, the new Koleos is set to underpin the recently revealed Nissan Qashqai. Indeed, Koleos test mule was spotted testing alongside its sibling Nissan Qashqai.

Speaking of the changes, the test mule sports a sleek projector headlamps with day-time-running-LED strips flanked around the typical Renault grille. Moreover, ridding on the Qashqai platform the wheelbase of the SUV looks bigger and the new design looks well proportionate. The rear gets inspiration from Renault Clio hatchback.

As the new Renault SUV is based on Nissan Qashqai, it is expected that the next-gen Koleos will be getting a new oil burner from the Qashqai – 1.6 dCi. This engine in Qashqai musters 128.2bhp (130PS) of max power while it extracts a peak torque of 320Nm and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. In India, we can expect only a diesel motor while globally it will be getting petrol too.
