Premier Rio facelift to adorn multijet engine

Premier Rio was recently launched in petrol version in India, Premier Rio price is tagged competitively at Rs 5.61 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Now, the company is also thinking of launching Premier Rio diesel facelift in BS4 engine to ensure that the car has more takers in Indian car market. Premier is at its heels for a facelifted version of Premier Rio and speculations are rife that this time the SUV will come packed with a Multi-jet diesel engine. The company is in discussions with various engine manufacturers, including Fiat, for a Euro IV engine for the Premier Rio facelift. Preliminary tests are on to determine engine compatibility for Premier Rio.

The current situation is that Premier Rio is in pre-production stage and a few vehicles have been seeded in the market to gauge initial market response. The company officials were glad with the feedback. Highly placed sources in the company informed that based on this stage, the product has now been fine tuned to meet customer expectations. Although, Premier Rio SUV was extant since 2009, the car could not attract sale due to lack of BS4 engine. But it will take a toll on the facelift of Premier Rio as it has to look into all the aspects on which the earlier version was falling short.

The SUV can walk an extra mile by selling some key points loud and clears in the market which includes Rio’s looks, advantages of high seating position, features and the fuel efficiency of the award-winning Multi-jet diesel engine. Premier Rio could experience a surge in sales if it brings to fore the disadvantages lack of parking space, and high petrol cost. More than all this, pricing would be a key factor on which new Premier Rio can score some extra points. SUV segment in India is ruled by Mahindra, its flagship SUV Mahindra Scorpio is very popular in India and the company is all set to roll out its world SUV christened, Mahindra XUV 500 in India on September 28th. With such contemporaries to fight with Premier will have to come out with something really nice in order to sustain in the thriving Indian car market.
