PM Modi Visits Jaguar Land Rover Plant in UK

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull manufacturing unit during his recent UK tour. The Prime Minister was given a walkthrough by Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, chairman of the Tata group along with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) CEO Ralf Speth and Warwick Manufacturing Group founder Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya. PM Modi tweeted while he was visiting the manufacturing facility - “At the Jaguar Land Rover plant factory. Economic synergy between India and UK can achieve a lot. @Jaguar @LandRover”

Solihull is the home of the Land Rover and the upcoming India bound XE became the first Jaguar to be produced there. The manufacturing of XE started earlier this year in April. It also debuted the company’s new lightweight aluminum architecture which is also shared by the new XF and F-Pace crossover. All of these cars will be launched in India in coming years, XE will drive in first and is expected to be launched at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo in Feb. Moreover, it was also spied recently at the ARAI facility (Automotive Research Association of India) in Pune.

Both the iconic British marques were bought by Tata Motors in 2008 from the American automaker - Ford Motor Company. When Tata Motors acquired JLR, it was running in a loss but Tata soon revived both Jaguar and Land Rover in a couple of years after acquisition. Currently, the company produces nearly 4,25,000 vehicles per annum at the Solihull plant.
