Honda has been the talk of the automotive town for a good few weeks now since they decided to foray into the diesel market. And now at the heels of the Honda Brio diesel, we hear news of the Honda City diesel. This brings the new Honda diesel cars to a total of 2 that will be launched in the year 2013. Honda already has plans to launch the sedan version of the Honda Brio dubbed the Honda Amaze in 2013 and now adding to that we hear that the ever popular Honda City will see a diesel version in the same year.

The diesel powered City will make use of the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that will be showcased in the upcoming Honda Amaze, Jazz and the Brio based MPV and Jazz based SUV. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is said to spin out 100bhp which should be more than sufficient for the models Honda has in mind. While the upcoming City will not be completely localised, the 1.5-litre diesel mill will be produced locally and additionally a major part of the components will be local in nature. This should help keep tabs on the price of these upcoming diesel models from Honda’s stables. Now, to play the waiting game; stay tuned to CarDekho for further updates on when the City diesel is expected to reach India.
