Mighty Endeavour Takes on the King Fortuner
The American, Ford has launched another revenge for Pearl Harbour in the form of an all new Endeavour on the Japanese's Toyota Fortuner. This next-gen Endeavour now looks much beefier, more aggressive and comes fully packed with features.
Toyota Fortuner is the one name that resonates with power in India. It's a masculine looking machine which has ruled the segment with hardly any competition. Cars like Santa Fe have started gaining popularity in the Indian market and with the launch of Trailblazer, things are only getting tough for the Japanese hunk. Adding to the troubles of Toyota, Americans have launched another revenge for Pearl Harbour in the form of an all new Endeavour. This next-gen Endeavour now looks much beefier, more aggressive and comes full packed with features. It even breaths fire with a 3.2L TDCi Turbo Diesel. Have the Americans packed enough gunpowder in the Endeavour shell to displace King Fortuner? Let's find out.
Propulsion
So, as you can see above, Ford Endeavour outperforms Toyota Fortuner in terms of both power and torque in both the engines. Not only is the magnitude greater, but both, the power and torque are delivered at a comparatively lower rpm which results in a better city performance. Also, the American SUV has a 6-speed MT/AT transmission as compared to the Japanese SUV’s 5-speed. Talking about the grunt, Endeavour has 110 Nm more than Fortuner which makes it more terrain ready and fearsome.

Adventure
Endeavour has a better suspension, better brakes, slightly higher ground clearance, 100mm longer wheelbase, more boot space and has better off-road assist. Clearly it is better suited for off-road adventure trips.

Even on the inside, Endeavours dominance is prominent. The interiors of the Endeavour give the feel of a higher class SUV whereas the Fortuner has faced a lot of criticism for the same. Dashboard and center console of the Fortuner look dated and need an urgent makeover.

Price Mileage
This is where Toyota excels. The cost of both - heavier and lighter engine is less than Endeavour. Although, from what we have seen above, Endeavour has a lot more to offer than Fortuner. But, where Endeavour is more economical to run in the lower end, Fortuner is more economical to run with the bigger engine.

Verdict
Endeavour clearly turns out on top in this comparison. It is better for off-roading, has more features, is more powerful but, the Toyota is more established in the Indian market. Fortuner is considered more reliable and dependable. It has won a lot of hearts in India and customers who own one, hardly ever complain about its performance. Whether the Endeavour will be able to displace Fortuner, only time will tell.
