Missed out on placing your order the first time around? You can still get one, but for a bit more

  • MG stopped bookings for Hector in mid-July 2019.

  • Hector was launched near June-end with prices ranging between Rs 12.18 lakh to Rs 16.88 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • MG has reopened bookings, deliveries expected in 2020 only.

  • New Hector customers to pay revised prices, increased by Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000.

  • MG may close bookings again prior to introduction of BS6 compliant powertrains.

MG Motor had suspended bookings for the Hector SUV for over two months. This happend withing the first month of its launch and many may have felt left out. But if you’re still keen on the Hector, this is your second chance as MG has reopened the bookings for the SUV.

The Hector was launched on June 27 and got over 28,000 bookings since pre-orders began, forcing the carmaker to halt orders and ramp up production. Depending on the variant and city, the wait time till delivery for a new Hector could stretch upto 4 months or more.

MG’s decision to reopen the Hector bookings follows the carmaker’s plan to further increase production in the second-shift at its Halol plant from November 2019. Those who missed out on placing an order for the Hector last time around can do so now at MG’s website or dealerships across the country. The booking fee is set at Rs 50,000.

However, those placing their orders now will also face a price hike of upto 2.5 per cent on the Hector SUV. MG does state that the pending 15,000 or so orders from the initial bookings will be safeguarded against the price increase.

The second batch of deliveries won’t begin until 2020 and most carmakers raise prices every year to reflect an increase in production costs.

Given that the MG Hector’s powertrain options are not yet BS6-compliant, all the orders for the BS4 models would likely have a deadline of April 2020 for delivery. Perhaps, MG may close bookings again at a later date, until it introduces the BS6 engines in the Hector in early 2020.
