The 1.0-litre engine is offered in the Lxi and Vxi trims of the WagonR with an AMT option only in the latter

  • With this upgrade, both the engines of the WagonR are now BS6-compliant.
  • The ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency figure has dropped from 22.5kmpl to 21.79kmpl.
  • Maruti has hiked the prices of the BS6 petrol WagonR 1.0-litre by Rs 8,000.
  • It still gets the same features as those offered on the BS4 1.0-litre trims.

Maruti Suzuki introduced the BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol unit in the WagonR in June this year. Now, it has upgraded the 1.0-litre petrol unit to meet the BS6 norms. It is offered on the Lxi and the Vxi trims of the WagonR. The compact hatchback now comes with the S-Presso’s BS6-compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine.

Even though the BS6 update has no effect on the 1.0-litre engine’s output (68PS/90Nm), its claimed fuel efficiency has gone down from 22.5kmpl to 21.79kmpl. It is still offered with the same transmission options: a 5-speed manual in the Lxi trim along with a 5-speed AMT in the Vxi. The BS6-compliant 1.0-litre engine is pricier by Rs 8,000.
