Maruti Suzuki today unveiled its highly anticipated Vitara Brezza compact SUV at the ongoing 2016 Indian Auto Expo. It’s a brand new car from the bottom up and is the first one to be designed and developed by Suzuki’s Indian counterpart.

March 08, 2016: Update: Maruti has launched its most awaited car this year, the Vitara Brezza. Priced at an amazing Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the car is sure to be successful, given the features and styling it comes in. The car features attractive colour options to suit one's individual taste. The DDiS200 diesel mill in the Brezza gives it a class leading fuel economy of 24.3kmpl and a 0 to 100kmph run of 13.3 seconds. It boasts many segment first features, both inside and outside the car. Led by Chief Engineer CV Raman, the Vitara Brezza has been designed and developed by Maruti’s in-house RD team in India. This made-in-India offering will also be exported to other markets, including several parts of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The Vitara measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm – standing neck-to-neck with its key rivals, the Mahindra TUV 300 and Ford EcoSport.
As the launch of Vitara is expected by the end of next month, bookings for the compact SUV are already underway in the country. It will be retailed through regular Maruti dealerships and not through the premium Nexa showrooms, thus expected to wear the conventional LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+ nomenclature – unlike the Baleno and S-Cross.
Powering this beautiful compact SUV is the time-tested, fiat sourced 1.3-litre DDiS, which delivers a reasonable 90PS. This particular selection of engine option comes as a courtesy of conformities implied by the sub-4 meter Compact SUV segment. Brezza will be made available at Maruti dealerships soon and will rival the likes of Mahindra's TUV300 and Ford's EcoSport, with a relatively competitive price tag.
