Maruti Suzuki YBA Could Outsell the Segment Like Baleno

Maruti is rumored to be all decked-up to launch its first sub-4m SUV codenamed YBA at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. The vehicle will be extensively loaded and is most likely to outsell both Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV3OO

Maruti is doing a cracker job with new products these days, Baleno is the biggest example of it. Although it is using the same mechanicals like the Swift, the vehicle is based on a new lightweight platform and is loaded with features to the brim. And as a result, Baleno outsold the segment leader Hyundai Elite i20 last month. After the Baleno's success, Maruti is readying its YBA (codenamed) compact SUV, which is expected to be launched at the 2016 Auto Expo in February. A lot of spy shots of the vehicle poured in recently both in November and this month indicating that the vehicle is in its last phase of testing. Let us find out why it has the potential to outsell both EcoSport and TUV3OO

The vehicle is expected to be based on the Suzuki's latest platform that also underpins the new Baleno. And the USP of this platform is that it is very lightweight, a fully loaded Balneo tips the scale somewhere near 980 kilos! And YBA is expected to get the mild hybrid version of the 1.3 DDiS diesel and  along with this platform - it is expected that it will offer segment leading efficiency figures. TUV3OO suffers from low fuel efficiency due to its RWD arrangement -18.49 kmpl, while EcoSport leads the segment with 22.27 kmpl and also the most powerful compact SUV currently.  And unlike the TUV3OO, YBA will also get petrol engine option and is expected to get CVT as well for petrol. 

Even in terms of features, YBA will get segment first add-ons like Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED drls, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation and Apple CarPlay, etc. None of the vehicle in the segment offers touchscreen infotainment system with navigation or projector headlamps. In a nutshell, if Maruti prices it right, the vehicle will have a rocket start!
