Is Honda Amaze a Swift DZire killer?

Honda has finally launched the Amaze with pricing starting at Rs 4.99lakh. It is available with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre oil burner options. The 1.2-litre gets two transmission options, one being a manual and the second being an automatic. Amaze is the first Honda in the country to get a diesel engine, and this has 98bhp of power and 200Nm of peak torque.

The Honda Amaze is a sub 4-metre sedan and will compete with the Maruti Suzki Swift DZire. It also, competes with the Toyota Etios, Mahindra Verito and the Tata Indigo eCS. We compare Honda Amaze to Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and recommend which one to pick.

Honda Amaze v/s Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire

Honda Amaze is under 4 metres in length, which means it gets the duty cut for smaller size, and even the engines get the benefit and the Japanese manufacturer has passed on the benefit to the customers. Despite being a sub 4-metre, the Amaze offers loads of space in both the rows, and a large boot of 400 litres. Even the engines that are on offer are excellent when it comes to power ratings, real world performance and fuel efficiency.

The Swift DZire on the other hand is a derivative of the Swift hatch and the result is visible. It is clearly visible that a boot has been slapped on the hatch and Maruti Suzuki hasn’t focused on the design. Just to make the DZire sub 4-metre, the boot has been cut half-way which makes it small and even the fact the new Swift has a long wheelbase reduces the size of the boot for the DZire. The DZire gets the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. But the Honda Amaze beats them not in just power ratings, but even in fuel efficiency, Honda gets an edge.

The Amaze is a clear winner in this battle, as not only is the quality and space better, but Honda is also a more premium brand in India when compared to Maruti Suzuki. Also, the fact that Honda has been known for its brand value, refinement and quality has given it an edge over Maruti Suzuki. The Amaze is the ideal choice in the sub 4-metre sedans, and we recommend to pick it over the DZire.
