Hyundai recently introduced the sixth-generation Elantra in the Indian market. The car had been anticipated for long by buyers who were looking for a modern-looking executive sedan. Now that it has been launched, that too at an introductory price of 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Hyundai has registered 7,817 enquiries and 405 bookings in just eight days of its arrival. This sedan stands against the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Skoda Octavia in the country.

The Elantra has registered over 11.5 million unit sales across the globe since it was first launched, back in 1990. Commenting on the overwhelming response and excitement among customers, Mr Y.K. Koo, managing director & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “We are overwhelmed with the customer’s response of more than 7,817 enquiries and 405 bookings received for The All New Elantra. This reflects the strong customer connect and confidence on Hyundai products. We thank our customers, channel partners, employees and media who have chosen The All New Elantra as an admirable Modern Premium Brand. We are confident that the All New Elantra will revive the segment and set new benchmark in India resulting in market leadership.”

The car comes with two engine options – a 1.6-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre petrol. The diesel motor produces 128PS of power and 260Nm of torque, whereas the petrol engine is good for 152PS and 186Nm of torque. Both engines can be bought mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. Inside, the car comes with an all-black interior colour scheme which holds an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) in the centre. The car also has dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery and electric seats to keep you comfortable. Know more about the Hyundai Elantra's features and specifications here.

As far as the prices are concerned, the base variant – the 2.0 MPi S – costs Rs 12.99 lakh and the top-of-the-line Elantra 1.6 CRDi SX (O) AT costs Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). These prices are only valid till December 2016 and will be increased after that. So if you are looking to get your hands on this sedan, hurry.
