Honda, apart from the new of bringing in the diesel sedan version of the Brio, is also planning on bringing in a SUV based on their popular hatchback, Honda Jazz. This new SUV is expected to come in 2013 after the next generation Jazz hatchback. The new SUV will first be launched in the European market and we can expect it to come to the Asian markets.

In India, the new Jazz SUV will give competition to the upcoming Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Premier Rio and the latest addition, Mahindra Quanto. Along with Honda Jazz based SUV, Maruti is also planning on bringing in their compact, XA Alpha to the market followed by Chevrolet, who are already working on their compact and Volkswagen, who is expected to bring in the Polo based SUV. It is also expected that Toyota is soon t get a new small SUV as well. Seems like the compact SUV market will be seeing some action for the next few years!

Around the world, the Jazz based SUV will stand against Fiat 500 XL, Nissan Juke etc. and is expected sometime in 2015. All said and done, on behalf of the Indian auto industry, “Honda, bring it on, we are waiting”…
